Finding Freedom: White Women Taking on Our Own White Supremacy

How are we as white women contributing to white supremacy? What keeps us from bringing our full voices to ending the harms of racism? What will it take to make white anti-racism a core aspect of our identities?

Join racial justice facilitators Kari Points and Evangeline Weiss to share our stories of how we all have maintained white supremacy. Let’s explore what we can and must do individually and collectively to resist racism and undo our own internalized white supremacy. This workshop will use the tools of embodiment to bring our full selves--our bodies, minds and spirits--to the task of creating a new collective identity for ourselves as racial justice workers.
All people who identify as white women, from all class backgrounds, are welcome. Lunch will be provided. Sliding scale. Child care is available!

Evangeline Weiss and Kari Points Bios:

Kari Points is a white Durham-based dyke who was raised working class in rural Southern Indiana. A member of the Leadership Team of Showing Up for Racial Justice and the Poor and Working Class Crew of Triangle SURJ, she works on racial justice and reproductive and sexual health, rights and justice locally, regionally, nationally and around the world. She believes we as white folks can and must free ourselves from internalized white supremacy, build mutual interest and solidarity with people of color, and organize for collective liberation.

Evangeline Weiss is a white middle class Jewish-identified queer and justice builder living in Greensboro, NC. The founder of Beyond Conflict, Inc., a social justice consulting firm, and the Leadership Programs Director at the National LGBTQ Task Force, Evangeline spends her days building the capacities of multi-racial coalitions and organizations.
